THE BATTLES AND STRUGGLES OF THE NIGERIAN PEOPLES

Nigeria gained independence in 1960, these was described as the freedom from the end of rule of the British government. Nigeria went from the struggles from colonialism to nationalism, this period was seen in the midst of the Nigerians as a difficult and controlling time. After Nigeria gained independence it made the Country to stand as one and began to build on its sovereignty which allowed the country to part take in the international politics and Nigeria became recognized among top Nations of the world. It led to the changing of the foreign policy of the nation.
Before 1960, Nigeria was also in the hands of slave traders, who were selling humans for slavery. These people served under the rule of their master who were brutal towards them. The people of Nigeria were taken from their country to the ship and was shipped through the Trans Atlantic ocean to the new Countries such as Portugal, Britain, the Americas etc. They were used for hard labour, they were working on agricultural plantations and theses brought a rapid growth of export and import of human slavery among the Europeans that were engaging in slave trades.
